Short Term Missions
What is STM?
STM is our short-term missions program in which we provide people with avenues and opportunities to develop and grow as disciples of Christ, as they serve and put their faith into action in an unfamiliar context! Each team will partner with an outside organization and train, prepare, learn, and serve on a 1-2 week experience. Our hope is that those that participate in a STM will be able to enact change as they learn what it means to be “ministers of being”, no matter what context they find themselves.
Purposes of STM
- To spread the gospel through simply loving and serving those who are in need
- To be a light & a blessing to our partnering organizations, their staff, and their communities
- To get a glimpse of how God is moving in communities outside of our own
- To develop a better understanding of His heart for the lost, the last, and the least
- To develop a MOB mentality (Ministry Of Being) in all contexts
How can I get involved?
Are you interested in taking a break from your everyday life to see and participate in what God is doing in another part of the world? Consider a short term missions experience with us this summer! We’ll be sending teams to join our partners overseas and join in what God is doing in a global context. Take a look at the various destination locations and prayerfully consider which experiences you would like to participate in.
DESTINATIONS *subject to change
Location: China (Dream Arts Center)
Date: around July 5-16 or July 19-30
Description: The Dream Arts Center is a fun place for all ages where dreams come alive through individual expressions of art, music, and dance. They are committed to the highest quality of teaching as well as bringing out the greatest potential of the individual’s talents and gifts. This team will help to run a summer arts camp for the local kids, as well as teach dance, music, and other forms of artistry to engage the kids and love them in this way.
Location: South Africa (Monte Christo Ministries/ Zimele)
Date: TBD
Description: The focus of MCM is to meet people first at their place of need, then by engaging young individuals in programs, projects and training to grow, disciple and release into maturity the next generation of South African youth and leaders. Moving young people from survival to success and significance through life skills development, mentoring and biblically based training will turn otherwise desperate lives into ones of significance. This team will work directly with kids, most of them orphans. They will serve in MCM’s existing ministries to serve the local community, both young and old as they serve food, teach kids, and care for the elderly.
Location: Mexico City, Mexico (NEO/ Amextra)
Dates: TBD
Description: NEO (or Newsong Mexico) is a third culture community that seeks a new experience with God. At NEO, we embrace all cultures and human experiences. We believe that in these intersections we can experience authentic community, purpose for life and hope for the future. Through our weekly gatherings, community outreach projects, and life on life discipleship we have been responding to the great expressed need for church that is relevant to this generation and addressing the social concerns of the last, least, and lost. This team will work with both Neo and Amextra using the arts, and English teaching skills to engage the lost.
Amextra is the Mexican Association for Rural and Urban Transformation, which has offered continuous services to marginalized communities in Mexico. Their vision is to promote the holistic transformation of farmers, indigenous people groups, women, youth, and children who live in rural and urban areas of extreme marginality. This team will be partnering also with Xealot Mexico.
