Burrito Project

WHAT IS IT?
Group of bikers of all abilities that gather on Sundays at 3pm and ride bikes to local parks distributing burritos while developing relationships with the homeless community. As long as there are at least 2 riders, this project will be executed every Sunday.
WHERE:1341 West Baker Ave. Fullerton, CA 92833
WHEN:Generally every Sunday at 3pm.
WHO:Call Daryl to confirm at 213.725.3485
Q. Do I need a bike?
A. No, many times people drive the route and help bring supplies, or people can come earlier to see if extra are available by others who own multiple.
Q. Do I need a helmet?
A. No if over 18, but it is recommended.
Q. How about donations?
A. Recommended donations include tortillas, beans, rice, foil, bottled water, snacks, clothes (especially socks!), and toiletries (including feminine hygiene products) - many times when you get to know the homeless you can find out what else they may need! Please come before 3 if you are bringing supplies.
Q. Anything else?
A. It also helps to have gloves and a big backpack is great for carrying burritos and other handouts. A light/rear blinker is nice since sometimes it starts getting a little dark before we finish.
Laundry Love

The Plan:
To build rapport and develop lasting relationships with the people around the community as we offer to pay for laundry and dryer loads. The relational aspect of actively listening, communicating, engaging and developing trust is the key factor here; utilizing the waiting period for washers and dryers provides the time and opportunity to hear unique stories, experiences and learn of additional physical and psychosocial needs. The vision is to develop a unique community at the laundromats, where people can have a hub to hang out at, get some of their needs met, have some of their stories heard, which may ultimately lead to them developing a personal relationship with God themselves. We can also make it an avenue where additional services can be provided, a place where people can get their laundry done, get their blood pressure taken, pick up some donated goods, etc. The possibilities are endless! Let us act together, join us!
Time:
Tuesdays from 5-9 p.m. (come in between those times as well)
** Money will be provided, but donations are welcome! **

What is it?:
Once a month this ministry throws a party for the children at the emergency children’s shelter. These children have been removed from their home for various reasons such as abuse or the parents have been put in prison. The ages of the children range from birth to 18 years old. The purpose of this ministry is to encourage and love on the kids during the time we are there. Each monthly celebration consists of games, crafts, snacks and music brought to the children by a team of volunteers. When you come serve at a party you will be given a special job prior to the party. It may consist of buying a birthday cake for the kids, thinking of a game to play or help bring some snacks. If you would like to serve with the team, you must e-mail the Orangewood Ministry team to find out the date and time of the party.
